Digital Art Paper

The aspect proportion is the relation between the horizontal and vertical sizes of the photograph. To work out the aspect proportion easy divide the width or a photograph by its height. For example Television in standard mode has an aspect proportion of 4:3 or to paraphrase if we were to split the width of the screen by its height the result would be four / three. Television in widescreen format on the other hand has an aspect proportion of 16:9. When we take a photograph with a camera light that travels thru the lenses hits a sensor ( a film in traditional cameras or a CCD in digital ones

The sensor in turn interprets the light into a two dimensional photograph. The sensor itself has qualities like width, height, granularity ( in films ) and number of pixels ( in digital CCD sensors ). The linkage between an aspect proportion and photograph printing When pictures are made public on paper the aspect proportion of the paper must be the same as the aspect propor

tion of the sensor that was employed to take the photograph. Why does it happen? The answer’s pretty simple. For the sake of reason we can assume a photograph sensor that is six inches wide and four inches high ( real sensors are way smaller ). If the paper width would be less than six inches we’re going to have to crop part of the photograph since there will not be sufficient space available on the paper.
